My computer is with Windows XP SP2 system, and having SQL Server 2000 installed. Now when I open the SQL Server Enterprise Manager (Console root), the MSSQL service often stops. Does anyone have ideas on the reason? It??s really troublesome: when I try to use the Enterprise Manager, once the service stops, the connection will be broken. I have reinstalled SQL Server 2000, the problem remains the same. Do I necessarily need to reinstall the OS? My God!

Could it be an issue with XP SP2? I'm pretty sure that' sstill only beta, so I'd check for known issues/bigs with XP and SQL. Can you roll back and only have SP1 aaplied, and see if the same issue presents itself? Or try it from a different system and check?
