Entry level-no experience–need advice

by sistrunk . Updated 16 years, 7 months ago

Hi,

The past two years I’ve worked both as an IT recruiter and managed services salesperson (security). I have a business degree in management and marketing and am also a veteran. I am wanting to get into the IT industry–the technical side. I’m trying to decide where to begin my studies–either CCNA or MCSE–and am leaning towards CCNA. I have A+ certification back from 2001 so I don’t even know if that’s relevant any longer. I have NO experience is sys. admin or networking. I’m not sure which one I will want to pursue but I think as I begin my studies I will find out. I know it will be one of the two, if not both.

Any suggestions on where to begin? I need true entry level training here–preferably self training due to costs. What are my best options? Which path should I take? Can it even happen for me? Without experience do I have a shot?

Thanks in advance.
