enum file

recently I upgraded a mother board and trouble with it recognizing the drivers. I took it to the store I purchased the board at for the tech to look at it. He explained he dumped the contents of the enum file. He further explained this would allow the PnP os to reinstal current drivers. It worked but I am not quite sure what he did.
