General discussion

Have just installed the new Epson CX3200 multifuncion printer on a win98 machine. If you forget to switch the printer on first and switch on after win98 has booted the Machine locks out completely, and you have to reset.

Printers not left on are subject to head drying and that is BAD.

Leaving a printer on is better as it docks the head properly and keeps it that way.

Also use the printer at least every other week in full color printing and keep the heads clean.

I would do a complete uninstall and reinstall as the printer should be there as default.

However if you have other printers installed in "printers" then another printer would be assigned defalut on startup even though it may not be present.

Uninstall all unconected printers to solve that problem

It is the only printer. And its brand new. Tried deinstalling and reinstalling made no difference.

This sounds like a driver that gets caught in an endless loop (freezing) if it does not "find" the printer.

Disassemble driver and repair. (Time consuming)

Complain to Epson. (Driver updates are not instant)

Remember to turn printer on first, and ignore problem.(How good is your memory?)

Regards, Chris
