Erase RW option disappears

After loading Norton 2005 Anti virus software on my winxp pro, the erase RW option that comes with winxp on left hand side or right clicking the option of a cdwriter drive letter which shows Erase disc option disappears. Also the auto startup screen fails to work when a cd is inserted. Un-installing nav05 solves the problem. Any solutions?
