ERD Data

By cmtbob ·
If I use drive IDE drive mirroring on NT, my ERD data seems to always be to large to fit on a floppy disk. I always copy the repair folder data to another work station for back up perposes but have never had to use it. My question is what good is itif I can't get it on a floppy and how would I use it to restore if I had a problem? What would the procedure be.

Thanks
Bob

Yes, I know what you mean. When you update the repair information, it should create a folder named "repair" under your winnt folder. There may-be a file called "software._," which is quite large. just copy this file to an extra disk and you will be fine or the files that have not been copied on your ERD.

Also you may want to do a registry export and save it to your "repair" folder. If you have a tape backup system you can import the registry later.

No worries.

In case you are not aware, RDISK does not update either the SAM or
Security Hives. Restoring from a copy of the repair folder can leave
you with a worthless system. The only safe way is with NT Bacup.
Regback.exe can also be used but not as safely.
I use a dual boot second system to backup and restoer my primary system
Works every time.
