I just rebuilt a computer for one of our employees.
HP Vectra VE
Intel Pro100+
Win98SE w/ IE5.5 and all current updates
The computer worked fine for a couple of days, but starting today, it has been having trouble connecting to the LAN. When I started checking settings, reloading drivers and such, it started giving this message on bootup:
The following error occurred while loading protocol number 0.
Error 59: A network error has occurred.
I have removed and reinstalled drivers, moved the card to a different slot, installed a new card of the same type, and used the System Configuration utility to disable all extra drivers. No matter what I do, as soon as the network drivers load, I get the same error. I looked through the MS Knowledge Base, but all I could find was some general network troubleshooting stuff.
I need to get this computer running as soon as possible and I really don’t want to have to reinstall and reload all of the programs again (this computer has a ton of graphics software on it).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
