Error accessing netword drives

I have had this eror pop up a couple of times now.
This is a newtwork running 2000 server and workstation.
When people try and access a network drive which is mapped via a log on script or manually they get an error message: “the network drive is already in use” and they are not allowed to access the share.
I dont know how to fix it or why does it happen
