Win98Se,IE5.5. Upon cold boot, recieving an error “Problem accessing system registry..will fix and reboot…ok?” from registry checker. Choosing ‘ok’ goes into never-ending loop of same error/msg. Booting into safe-mode will error the same, but restores backup registy. Everything ok, even through warm boots. Next cold boot…same problem. If registry checker task is terminated everything appears normal. Apps run fine. Using regedit, the registry can be viewed/edited. Tired of booting into safe-mode after each power up to restore reg.
