I have an ASUS P2B-F Motherboard P2-400, Award BIOS 5/10/99, 64Mb memory, Plenty of cooling, Two HD 13Gb & 4Gb, ATI Rage II+.
I have recently (past two weeks) been getting the message “Error: Can’t Write ESCD” on boot-up.
I basically know thatESCD is “Extended System Configuration Data”. I am very computer literate, but not on the heavy technical side. I have read some MS Documentation on what this is, but I do not know what is causing this error message to appear. The system seems to function well otherwise.
An issue which may be a result of this error is that I can’t get the system to recognize a SoundBlaster AWE64 Plug and Play Card I want to install. I know the card is working well as it just came out of another system.
Can anyone shed some light on my problems… please !!!!!!!!
