Error Copying files or folder

I did some experiment to my PC (NTFS), as a precautionary measure i made copies of necessary files on my other partition(i.e. NTFS). Later i formatted & reinstalled W2k Profesional and try to retreived the files. most of them can be recovered but one folder is causing a problem under document and settings folder. I received error “Cannot copy xxx file.Access is denied the source file may be in used.
It might be an NTFS Permission issues, but i doubt it. Can anyone please help!
