"error displaying link"

from a novice;
i aquired an NEC tower with wndows 2000\nt
as i am a novice,...while in my e-mail,there
are alot of error messages saying "error
displaying link".usually after 'clicking'
about two subjects in a particular e-mail.
i've started at the top,the bottem,...it
does'nt seem to matter.any input would be
appreciated.

lots of reasons why its doing that.
HTML in outlook uses your IE security settings.
#1 check security settings {tools options} do not go lower than medium.
#2 check your hosts files if you did not build the machine {find files and folders from start menu type hosts and find] right click the file while holding down shift, choose open with, choose notepad, uncheck box. you shouldn't have any entries, only have 127.0.0.1 localhost after all the ## lines
#3 find out where the link is going.

so... you just have to use common trouble shooting techniqes.
