By xiaitmb ·
Have the following error on a IBM server running Wins Server 2000:
an error was detected on device \device\harddisk2\dr20 during a paging operation.
Event ID is 51
How to determine if this is a disk or OS error?
Appreciate advise.

As the error message suggests, this indicates an I/O error reading or writing to a file that has mapped to memory. There are lots of possible causes, including a transient error, and usually the operation has been tried again and succeeded. One of the common causes is that your disk has write cache enabled. Write cache should be disabled in most cases.

Hope this helps!
