Error loggin to Domain

By tim ·
When I connect to a windows 2000 domain with XP, I connect ifne the first time and it copies my profile to the server when I log off. But when I logon the second time I get the following message.
Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact the server that authenticated you.

Any suggestions?

Couple things you will find with xp home or pro with a 2000 domain.

1. Even when done properly, on a domain, xp will lose it's security privaleges... "Microsoft has found this to be a problem" (Sound familiar).

2. You will need to assign the dns server i.p. in the primary.... should get you by, but mapped drives and so forth, look forward to the problem in #1.

Good Luck.

not sure if xp has the same issue of 2000, but try and logon as the domain admin, create same user and point it to the domain... that might resolve that issue.
