error message in the event viewer

    Locked

    by singhjunk ·

On my Exchange server I keep getting this message in my event viewer everytime somebody
try to logon into their mailbox.

NT User USCAG\BOURLANL logged on to AC Customer Service mailbox, and is not the primary Windows NT account on this mailbox.

How harmful is this and I am pretty sure that these mailboxes have a valid accounts.

    Suggestions reqiured please.

    Thanks,

Sounds like the user is a delegate of the mailbox and not the owner. Verify that the mailbox that they are connecting to is associated with there domain account

Ths happens when more than one person has permission to access a mailbox. In our organization, for example, all secretaries have such permissions to access the mailbox of the executive for whom they work so we see these Event Log entries every morning.

We run Groupshield on our Exchange server so we also see a similar entry for each mailbox every night when Groupshield logs on to the mailbox to scan it’s contents for viruses. A brick-level backup program may also cause this sort of Event Log entry as it signs on to the account.

To check an individual account for delegates, go to the User properties page in Exchange Administrator and look at the Permissions tab and Delivery Options tab.

      regards!
