Error message when saving Photoshop psd's - This document has been damaged

By kdimasi ·
We are having a error message come up after working on PSD?s then saving them, and then re-open them.

"This document has been damaged by disk error. The most likely causes of this error are: a defective disk drive, a defective disk drive cable, or incorrect peripheral cable termination. Some of the pixels in this document may be invalid. Open anyway?"

Can anyone tell if they know why, or have found a solution for this error?

You may have a defective hard drive ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Error message when saving ...

Run a check on the hard drive in question by doing the following:

Assuming you are running Windows XP:

Start > Run > type chkdsk [X:] /f - where [X:] is the drive you want to check.

SO - if you wanted to check drive C: type chkdsk C: /f

If your choice of drive is your system drive, a message will appear telling you that this drive cannot be checked until you reboot. That is correct. Reboot and the check of the drive will commence.

Depending on the size of your drive this could take up to about an hour or so. DO NOT interrupt this process - the result of interrupting it could damage your drive filing system.

Any and all drive errors will be reported and any fixes will be addressed.

Post back with the results of this test.

same problem

by derekjohnbacon In reply to You may have a defective ...

I am getting the same error message in Photoshop on the
same OS - I've already tried the disk checking once today,
but it is still playing up...

I'm considering reinstalling Win XP - assuming the error is
on the C drive where Photoshop is installed.

Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers
