Error msg Win ME startup file vcomm(5)

I get an error message when starting windows. It reads “An error has occurred while starting windows. Press enter to continue or Alt-Ctl-Dlt to reboot. File name Vcomm(05) & 00000AD9 Error: 0E: 0028: C02A95D9. I would appreciate any information regarding this file and how to eliminate the message.
