I updated the display drivers (to Chips 65550 PCI) on a fresh NT 4.0 workstation installation for a laptop (Extensa 355). Now I get the error message,”An error occurred while Windows was working with the CP file \\winnt\system32\desk.cpl”
after login and everytime I try changing display properties.
I can always reinstall but I wanted to know if any of you people know of a much more expedient way yo solve this problem.
Booting to VGA mode doesn’t help and the only solution I can get on the net is for Win95/98 (suggesting the deletion of the appropriate display keys in the registry. What’s the NT version???
Also tried using an ERD but the process failed ‘coz it was looking for a CD-ROM which the laptop did not have.
I would greatly appreciate any input, and while your at it could you also tell me whare I could download a more effective Chips 65550 PCI driver???
