Error printing E-mail attachments.

By dkstanford ·
I have a Windows NT 4.0 machine and use Netscape 4.75 for browsing and e-mail. When trying to print an e-mail attachment to a local printer, "Error writing to LPT1: for document KewView Pro(kw15.tmp). The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". The attached documents display fine, they just won't print. I can print any other document or e-mail fine. It doesn't seem to matter what the attachment is, PDF or Word Or Mozilla.
Can anyone give me some ideas why this might behappening and what I can do to fix it?

Sounds like a corrupt file.

Try this:
Open the attachment.
Select All.
Open a MS-Word.
Paste.
Print from with-in MS-Word.

If copying and pasting to a new document doesnt work you might try saving the document as a basic .txt file. I know Word will allow this. If it translates to .txt you should be able to print then although may not be as clean or "pretty". If its aprinter you can do flash updates on try that. I just flashed an HP to get it to print web based documents properly. It could be something similar. Try making sure the driver is updated as well.

Make sure there isnt a device conflict when veiwing this document as that is what the error somewhat suggests. I havent seen it as much lately but modems sometimes would share the same IRQ or such as printers and cause issues. Usually the modem would just disconnect though.

You might try clearing out all your temp files to make sure its not picking up a corrupted version.

All i can think of for now. Hope this helps or gets you in a right direction.
