Error repartioning Vista C drive

By hmdoit ·
Followed the instructions on this site all the way: Successfully created an unallocated space between the C and D drive: 40gigabite from the c less than the 70gig I could take. At the very end it warns me that I was converting the selected disk to a dynamic disk and I would not be able to start installed operating system from any volume on the disk (except the current boot volume) do you want to continue. I did. Error: The Dyamic disks are not supported by this operating system. I have now between the C and the D drive and unallocated 40 gig that is just not available.

How many partitions are on the physical hard disk?

Are C and D both on the same physical hard disk?

Did you format the partition that you created?

Error partitioning Vista -Cannot create dynamic dr

by hmdoit In reply to Questions

Thanks for responding! Both c & d are on the same physical drive. Yes I tried formatting the drive using the wizard described in the article. I am not Dos familiar but have partitioned before. I moved the unallocated off the C drive is that what is creating the problem. If so how do I merge it back or with the d drive and then try to create an E drive?
