Error while updating virus definition file "All updates failed to install..

Hi,

Pleae resolve my problem.
I m gatting an error while updating virus definition "All updates failed to install on the machine"

A little problem that you must resolve, first.

Ask the AV vendor.

Especially since you don't tell us what AV or version it is, what OS you are using, or anything else relevant, like an error code or what it says in the AV logs or event logs.

McAfee...

Cause:

One of the following circumstances can arise which requires a manual update procedure:

* The DAT and Engine are so far out of sync that a scheduled updates fail and incurs Olympus error messages as the tasks load
* A recent DAT update has failed leaving a mismatched set of files in the GroupShield for Domino folder
*
The DAT file was corrupted while being downloaded from the FTP site
*
4400 Engine and DAT issue that occurred after May 14th 2007. For more details see 612627

Solution 1
Emergency procedure using DAT-XXXX.ZIP and ENG-XXXX.ZIP

Step 1 - Identify the current Engine /DAT versions.

1.
Click Start, Programs, Lotus Applications, Lotus Domino Administrator.
2.
From the menu click File, Open Server.
3.
From the drop-down menu, highlight the correct server and click OK.
4.
Click the Files tab.
5.
In the left pane select the McAfee folder.
6.
In the right pane click on GSD53_CONFIG.NSF.
7.
In the left pane under AutoUpdates click on Configuration.
8.
In the right pane click on either the Engine or DAT Only document.
9.
Click View Version Info. The Engine and DAT version is displayed
10.
Minimize the Lotus Notes Administrator client.


Step 2 - Download the Engine and DAT files from the www.mcafee.com website.

1.
Launch your Internet browser and access the www.macfee.com website.
2.
Under Enterprise & Industries, click Downloads.
3.
Under Security Updates, click Check for updates.
4.
Click I Agree to accept you have a valid technical support agreement.
5.
Click the Engines tab.
6.
Click on Engine Update for GroupShield for Lotus Domino (Win32 only).
7.
When prompted, click Save.
8.
Browse to a temporary (empty) downloads folder then click Save.
9.
Once downloaded click Close.
10.
Click on the DATs tab.
11.
Click on the dat-XXXX.zip (Windows & NetWare). Where XXXX is that DAT version.
12.
When prompted, click Save.
13.
In the temporary downloads folder click Save.
14.
Once downloaded click Close.


Step 3 - Copy new Engine/DATs to the GroupShield for Lotus Domino folder.

1.
Shut down the Lotus Domino Router while the Anti-virus software is disabled. At the Domino Command Console type:
tell router q.
2.
To shut down all the McAfee tasks type: tell mcafeeconfig q
3.
Launch Windows Explorer and browse to the downloads folder created in Step 2.
4.
Right-click on the dat-XXXX.zip and select Extract to. In the Extract window click on Extract.
5.
Close the WinZip - dat-XXXX.zip window once all the files have been extracted.
6.
Right-click on the eng-XXXX.zip and select Extract to. In the Extract window click on Extract.
7.
Close the WinZip - eng-XXXX.zip window once all the files have been extracted.
8.
Using Windows Explorer select the following files:

1.
SCAN.DAT
2.
NAMES.DAT
3.
CLEAN.DAT
4.
MSCAN32.DLL

9.
With all 4 files selected, right-click and select Copy.
10.
Navigate to the following folder: c:\Program Files\McAfee\GroupShield for Lotus Domino.
11.
In the right pane click in a clear area and select Paste.
12.
When the Confirm File Replace window appears click Yes to All.
13.
At the Domino Command Console reload the Router task by typing: load router
14.
To load all the McAfee GroupShield tasks type: load mcafeeconfig all

NOTE: Verify all the McAfee tasks report initialised on the Domino Command Console.


Step 4 - Verify the correct Engine/DAT have been successfully installed.

1.
Maximize the Lotus Notes Administrator client
2.
In the right pane click on either the Engine or DAT Only document.
3.
Click on View Version Info. The Engine and DAT version is displayed
4.
Verify that both the new DAT and Engine are reported.

NOTE: The DAT and Engine versions can also be verified by t yping at the Lotus Domino Command Console: tell mcafeeodscan about.
