By saifoelbahri ·
Hi all,
Please help?

How to fix this problem, without Reinstall OS,
Im using XP Prof SP2 OS,
When I turn on my pc, there is message

?Windows coulds not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM select 'r' at the first screen to start repair?
I have fixed like following message above, but still not working,

Any contribute I will appreciate

Thank in advance

I don't think so

I would say reinstall the OS. It apparently was not able to repair the necessary file using the repair. While it is a pain to have to do, your best bet is a reinstall.

Good luck!

The First R

is for the Recovery Console. Booting into it won't do anything. You must run some commands here.
Your best bet would be to boot into the RC and then try Chkdsk /R on the system drive.
If you receive one or more errors fixed, then run it again until no fixed errors are reported.
If that fails, try the second R for a repair operation. After the repair you will need to install all Microsoft updates again.
