Errors in imported Excel spreadsheet

By colin.mac ·
When I take a copy of an excel spreadsheet of the main server and try to open it on my laptop, the system takes a very long time to open the file and when it does it displays a message saying "Formatting error that has been corrected, you may need to check all the formatting in the rest of the document" then if I try to add a column or row or do anything with the spreadsheet the system hangs. I've tried opening the files taken from the main server on other external systems and they open fine. I'm using Excel 2002 on my Win 2k laptop and I beleive it's Excel 2000 on the Win2k server computers.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It would be helpful if you reviewed the event viewer for more information on the error message.

Thanks, but i've managed to get it sorted, it just needed to be re-formatted and re-saved onto the system.

Cheers
