I need to connect my Exchange server to another company’s Exchange site to send secure e-mail. I’m getting an error that says “secure channel required” When I telnet to their IP at port 25 I get
220 SMTP/cmap ready – I know it’s supposed to answer with
220 server.domain.com ESMTP Server yaddda, yadda, yadda…
We’re both on 5.5 sp3. Why does theirs answer differently? Ports 110 (ntlm) and 995 (SSL) are open. and all is configured correctly on both side as far as IMS. What we need to do is toget their server to understand the SMTP extensions. I have 2 sites that work fine but this one just wont answre correctly – It’s almost like it’s not even an Exchange box answering….
We have both followed all technet articles concerning this so but are at wits end.
