Ethernet card has error, won't allow me to use my offline audio?

By lilyrey ·
I don't know what I did, but I went to some off-color sites to download a song that turned out to be an illegal download & since then my ethernet card states that there is an error. I'm no expert & not sure if that was even the cause, but since it has to do with the internet I figured it might.

First, the computer said that new hardware had been detected. It turned out to be the ethernet card. I tried to use my media players and I got an error message. I managed to get through the installation wizard to reinstall the ethernet card, but it still says that it wasn't installed properly & the program "might not function properly." It won't play at all. I have no idea how to get the card functioning again, can someone please help? Thank you in advance!

sounds like you have malware

Hi

you may want to run a malware scanner and antivirus (malware bytes, SPybot, etc)
or even try doing a system restore (via windows accessories ->system restore) to a date prior to the download)

if both of those fail you may want to do a system recovery or clean reload of the systm,

Just run the scans in Safe Mode without Network

by OH Smeg In reply to Ethernet card has error, ...

Not Normal Mode as any files in use at the time of the scan may not be scanned and will most certainly not be altered. So if the infection is in a File being used it's not going to be cleared.

You may also want to try a Rescue Disc like one of the ones listed here
