we have a site has an Cabletron ESX-1380 switch in the ‘main’ building.
From one of the ports on this switch there is fiber run to a Cabletron SEH 24 into a fiber epim in E1 slot. Then there is a run coming from the 2nd fiber epim in this hub going to the next building to another SEH24 with 2 fiber epims. This building connects to another SEH24 with 2 fiber epims. This connects to the last building with an SEH24.
is this 4 segments or do the EPIMs make it look like one segment? if the former, is this an ethernet spec violation?
of course, it’s been ‘working’ for years
