    Event Error Puzzle

Has anyone else experienced the following event errors in Win2k and if so possible ideas as to the solution?

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: SclgNtfy
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1001
    Date: 4/24/2001
    Time: 2:28:52 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: PC1231
    Description:
Default local machine policy cannot be created. Error 80070005 to open LocalMachinePolicy.

    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: Oakley
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 542
    Date: 4/19/2001
    Time: 8:30:57 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: PC1231
    Description:
The IP Security policy for ISAKMP/Oakley specified an encryption algorithm that is invalid due to export cryptography restrictions. All 3DES encryption used by ISAKMP/Oakley is weakened to standard DES encyption. Generally, this is benign. ISAKMP/Oakley will still be able to negotiate IP security parameters, and protect that negotiation with DES encryption. This should only be of concern if you demand that the ISAKMP/Oakley negotiation be protected with 3DES encryption. If this is the case, please contact your network administrator.

I do not know about the 1st event, but the “ISAKMP/Oakley” error can be cured by installing the IE5 128bit encryption upgrade if your in the US. This may also cure the 1st error. Download the file from microsoft’s website.
