Event Id: 105

By Deven ·
I receive three events (id: 105) in my webserver every few hours.

The events generated is like this :

Event Type: Error
Event Source: W3SVC
Event Category: None
Event I 105
Date: 5/6/2003
Time: 12:02:34 PM
User: N/A
Computer: WEBSERVER
Description:
The server was unable to register the administration tool discovery information. The administration tool may not be able to see this server. The data is the error code.
For additional information specific to this message please visit the Microsoft Online Support site located at: http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
Data:
0000: c6 04 00 00 ?...

and same events for FTP and SMTP also.

I have IIS 5.0 running on this server and role is webserver. It is a stand alone machine with one adapter. As well I am using only TCP/IP on this machine(not netbios).

I tried searching on microsoft, but it says if cable is unplugged from the adapter you get this error. I have only one adapter( with 5 IP's) and it is working fine.

What is wrong??

As well one more question: I get one more event (id:11) daily on this server

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: w32time
Event Category: None
Event I 11
Date: 5/5/2003
Time: 12:47:35 PM
User: N/A
Computer: WEBSERVER
Description:
The NTP server didn't respond
Data:
0000: 46 27 00 00 F'..

As this is a stand alone machine (and co-located to ISP) I cant assign domain controller as a time server. how can I resolve this issue by giving any other time-server.

Thanks in advance.

Deven

For event id 105, take a look at the following url. Basicly what they say is add netbios support.

For event id 11, you could use the following workaround :

If you don't need a synchronisation with an external server, you can make two changes at HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters:

new value "ReliableTimeSource, REG_SZ,1" and
alter value in "Type, REG_SZ, NoSync"

and the warning disappears in the event log. This is a workaround.

Regarding event id 105:The solution mentioned is for NT4, but you could try it anyway.

Hey,

As a test can you install NetBios to see if the error goes away? You can always remove it if it does not remove the event log entry.

For your time question here is what we used to setup out time server.
