I am helping a friend with his NT 4 network running a workgroup environment. The main computer that is acting like the server is having this problem. I have been told that nothing was changed but after restarting the machine I get this event id 3870 message and the workstations service is not able to start. Of course this causes many other problems. MS Technet says the reason is there is a static entry in the WINS database. How can I get rid of this entry. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
