Event Viewer - connect to another comptr

By nschloss ·
Am on a Win2003 network and use Event Viewer to 'connect to another computer' to view events of other servers on the network. After upgrading one server from NT4 to W2k3, can no longer connect to this server through mmc such as Event Viewer. Get error 'unable to connect' and 'access denied'. Can someone advise what setting I need to change? Thanks!

I would also suggest the following to remedy your issue.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842209

This happens when you promote the NT machine to the new domain structure.

good luck..

I have noticed that when I bounce one of my DC's, it doesnt sync its time with the NTP server and falls 30 mins behind. While out of sync, you will receive this error while trying to open remote event logs. Once I manually fix the time, the event viewer opens perfectly. Clearly an AD/ Kerberos reliant service.
