Event Viewer Error Message

By skopelman ·
I am using WIN2000 Pro home-networked with a router with IE 6.0.

In the Event Viewer/System, I am receiving Event I 10005 each time I go to a website:

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service MDM with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064}

I do not have a server.

How can I find a means to remove this error in the Event Viewer? The two other WIN2000 boxes do not show this error message. I can list my Services if they are required.

MDM is the machine debug manager and is used for script and application debugging. It is installed with various ms products like the script debugger, ms office, visual studio etc.

To verify that it is started click start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Services and look for the Machine Debug Manager. Verify that it is started and set to automatic.

Another option would be to disable script debugging in ie. This would resolve the issue related to ie but would not resolve it with any other apps yu might be getting this message from.

Cheers.
