Event Viewer Message

I am getting a message everytime I try to view the Seurity log in the event viewer. the message states:

A required privelege is not held by the client.

My server is a BDC but the same message shows up on the PDC. I was always able to view the security log up until a few months ago then this message appeared. Nothing to my recolection, has changed to cause this message to appear. I checked the permissions on the security log file but they have not been changed.

What could be prompting this message and how can I resolve it?

Check your user rights under Policies in User Manager - sounds like you no longer have "manage auditing and security logs" access granted to your user ID.

Those permissions checked out ok - I'm logged on as administrator.

From memory you have to be a member of the admin group to view the security log in NT. Maybe you should check this first.
