I have an Everex XT5300T Stepnote 17″ laptop with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 (AMD TKk53HAX4DC) processor and an Nvidia GeForce 8600m GS onboard video running Windows Vista Home Premium OS.
The comp was running fine, but I wanted to do a restore because of a network issue I had caused and couldn’t figure out how to correct.
I chose the the last restore point, which happened to the point where I installed the AMD Dual core optimizer driver update.
The restore process began and I stepped away for a bit. When I returned the screen was black and the power light was on as well as the scroll, cap, and num lock lights. The HDD light was continuously flashing.
Powered off and powered on. Same thing. Pulled main battery same thing. Then I noticed that the DVD would not eject nor where the USB ports working.
I then tried the following with same results:
1. Pulled main battery and CMOS Battery
2. Pulled batteries and ram, tried without ram and tried with each one seperate.
Then I tried pulling the processor, ram and batteries. Same result.
Finally I pulled the processor and left everyhting else, then the DVD would eject but the USB ports still did not work.
Any ideas?
