We?re using Excel-2000 to develop spreadsheets that we use in our test software. But some of our customers has not upgraded to Office-2000 yet, so we need to load the 2000 xls in Excel-97. But Excel-97 crashes when loading the spreadsheet that was saved with Excel-2000. The Excel-2000 spreadsheet has some VBA code in them. This happens on several different computers with Excel-97, and with Excel-2000 spreadsheets from different computers. The PC?s with Excel-97 loaded on them are running Windows NT 4.0, so when Excel-97 crashes, Dr. Watson catch the application error. The error message is: Excel.exe ? Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x300905d8 (I have the drwatson.log file, if anyone is interested). I know that Excel-97 is supposed to be forward compatible with Excel-2000, but why don?t it work backward? Anyone with any ideas?
