Excel 2003 problem

By jhenderson1977 ·
My mouse sticks when I "left" click on any cell within my workbook. If I open a fresh workbook I can right click all day, but as soon as I left click it's almost as if I'm holding down the shift key. I'm not able to click on any of the menu options, and the only way to stop it from scrolling around the screen is to go to the start bar and right click and close. I'm on a Dell latitude D600 w/ WinXP and Office 2003.

Thanks in advance for you help!!

Have you checked your Mouse settings in Control Panel? There is an option to turn on/off 'Click-lock'.

Good luck

Fix For This Problem

by levine_the_machine In reply to Excel 2003 problem

Struggled with this lousy problem for months...

Turns out it is the scroll click of the trackwheel on the mouse was the problem. The moment I touched it (clicked down on the scroll wheel), it corrected the problem. I was able to duplicate and correct the problem 3x. Somehow the wheel click is like a combination <F8> and Scroll lock, without any visual indicators.

Wild and wonderful world of Microsoft.
