I have a few users that are having a strange problem in Excel. Whenever they open a doucment and try to change the view to “Page Layout” Excel converts EVERY cell in the spreadsheet into a printable page, thus printing about 10,000 pages. All of theusers are on WinNT 4.0. I have tried deleting all of their roaming profiles as well as the local profiles. I have given the user local admin rights, and have even given one of those users a new machine. No luck. I thought that the problem was with the file(s) themselves but if I logon to the same machine, I don’t have that problem… Any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

winnt keeps a seperate profile (including some office configuration for each user). I don’t know what was wrong with office config for those users, but you can simply replace the whole profile of the one with prolems with the one wihout problem (yourself for example). If you log on as yourself, you cannot copy your own profile (since iti si in use), so log on as the local admin, then go to c:\winnt\profiles\yourID and just copy all files(ntuser.dat etc.. and folders from there to c:\winnt\profile\yourUserID. Next time this user logs on, (s)he will have your own profile, so Excel is supposed to behave exactly as it behaves when you log on.

The problem is everything else will be used as your profile, so outlook won’t work since it will try to open your own mailbox instead of user1 mailbox. You will have to reconfigure outlook for that user. I know this requires some work, but if your excel problem cannot be solved, this could be a way out.
