Excel 97 Area Chart X Axis Scale

By rick.harned ·
How can I change the scale of the X Axis in an Area chart in Excel 97? I do not want the scale to begin at 1, but rather to display only the portion of the range where actual data exists.

Excel 97 Area Chart X Axis Scale

Once you have created your graph, double click on the x axis. You will see a a dialog box with numerous tabs.

Select the "Scale" tab and you are able to type in the Minimum, maximum etc for your chart.

When you being to type in these fields the check box under "Auto" should clear automatically.

I tested this myself with a dummy area chart of different types and found it worked on all of them.

Any probs I'm happy to help.

Excel 97 Area Chart X Axis Scale

That was the first place I looked. I don't know the reason, but this option was not available for the area chart I was given to troubleshoot. There was no Scale tab for the X axis.
