Excel - cannot empty the clipboard

By jhandega ·
With Win98 or 2000 using Excel 97. When I do a copy I get an error saying "Cannot empty the clipboard". If I click OK throught the error each time it pops up, I can continue with the paste. But get the error 4 or so times everytime.

Excel - cannot empty the clipboard

TechNet includes this article:
(Type the Q number in the search box at support.microsoft.com)

"Cannot Empty the Clipboard" Err Msg When Dragging Cells

Q196620

It may be too obscure:
"This problem occurs if you are running GetRight Monitor version 3.2, and it is configured to monitor the Windows clipboard."

I am not dragging cells, simply a copy - paste. And do not have GetRight Monitor installed. What is that program?

Excel - cannot empty the clipboard

Hello..

I'm running Excel 2000, but I'm sure this feature is in 97 as well. You can do a right-click on any toolbar and open up the Clipboard toolbar. In that toolbar, there should be an icon that looks like the paste icon with an X... Click onthe icon and it should empty out the clipboard.

Hope that this works in 97.

Doesn't appear to be that toolbar option in 97. Searched in help for clipboard and didn't find anything either.
