Excel causes system resources low messag

By jenn17 ·
When I try and run printpreview in Excel my system locks up and the error message comes up that the system resources are dangerously low. And gives me the option to close the program. This is the only program I have running with 128mb of memeory.I have reinstalled excell and hasn't helped.

Try increasing the disk cache, a lot. This is under the System Control Panel, Performance tab, I believe. You'll need to reboot.

Also, check your system tray to see what services are running. Even with just Excel running as an app, system services can really eat up resources.

Excel is memoery hungry itself.

If you have multiple files open in Excel then close them down.

Also some versions of Excel have memory leakage bugs. Only way to reslove is reboot, reopen file and try to print it straight away.

Other thingsto look at include:
number of fonts you are using,
are you using the best printer with Excel - i.e. the one that has your fonts installed and is not trying to do a lot of font conversions?

Also check you have all the OS patches and Excel service packs installed.
