Excel Decimal Points

by aburrus08 . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have an excel 97 document and I am clicking the increase and decrease decimal buttons but the decimals don’t increase after I have formatted to currency or comma style. When I click the increase decimal button the column width increases. When I click the decrease decimal button the dollar sign moves back to the left, away from the numbers. It does not add additional zeros or numbers as it should. I closed out of Excel and went back into it with a blank document. In an empty cell I typed in 100 and formatted it to currency style and it worked. Then I typed 200 into the next cell and 300 into the following cell and then selected all three and then set them all to currency style and then clicked on the increase/decrease decimal buttonsand the same happened as before. It just increased the column width. Then I went into another blank cell and typed in another number (100) and formatted it again and then clicked on the increase/decrease decimal buttons and the same thing happenedagain. I don’t know what is happening. It has only worked for me that one time, the rest of the time it just increases the column width. Please help, I have training on these machines Monday. 🙂 Thanks!
