The message continues to say “The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location.” This question has been posted before but NEVER answered correctly.
History: This happened to several of my files, all of which are stored locally. Some files I use weekly others I haven’t accessed for months.
What I’ve tried:
1. virus scan
2. deleted temp files, cached files etc.
3. tried opening on other machines
4. tried opening in other applications
5. tried Microsofts KB suggestions
None have worked. I tried a demo from www.officerecovery.com and it WILL work but it is going to cost me $149. I’m cheap and if theres another solution out there I’m willing to try it first.
