excel formula output in another cell

PlsHelp me.

2 DATE NAME EXPENSE

9 7-Mar Sara
10 8-Mar John
11 9-Mar John

A= Date
B=Name
C=Expense
D3=20000(CASH IN JOHN'S HAND)
E3=13874(CASH IN SARA'S HAND)

CONDITION I
if B3="Sara",E3-C3 and the output in the E3. That means Sara's Expense Should subtract from Sara's Cash Balanace

CONDITION II
IF B3="John",D3-C3 and the output in the D3.That means John's Expense should subtract from John's Cash Balance
_______________________________
Then hv to check next row B4,B5,B6 ?..Every step John's and Sara's Cash Balance need to change

Write "John" in D2 and "Sara" in E2.

In D4, enter "=if(D$2=$C4; D3-$B4; D3)"
Copy this formula in all the result grid.

This will in each cell calculate the running balance for each name.

If you have Excel 2007, then you can use conditional formatting with white font to hide cells where balance hasn't changed. The formatting condition should then be (with D4 selected: =(D4=D3)

EditAdd: I hope I got all dollar signs right, didn't test run, though.
