Excel Formula Query

By cgsstwy ·
Hello everyone, this is my first post, so I hope you can help me. I am trying to create an excel inventory spreadsheet which logs the sales of products and then automatically updates the ingredient inventory list that made up that product. For example if I sold 1 ham sandwich which used 2 slices of bread, 2 slices of ham, 10grams of butter, 1 plastic container and 1 label - then by entering "1" into the "ham sandwiches sold" column, would some how link to and update the ingredients sheet behind it. This would mean ingredients stock levels would be managed by the products sold column, rather than manually updating each ingredient/component column. Any ideas?

it's easy in excell

put a formula that points to the cell in the sheet..

e.g. ='Sheet1'!A1 in each other sheet will copy what is in cell A1 of Sheet1 in each of those cells...

instead of ='Sheet1'!A1 , substitute your formula, put the sheets name in single quote

You are thinking very logical and programmatic.

But Yes, You can achieve this with common excel formulas.

Not quite sure, I feel the Nested IF statements can be a help for you.

Just check if this works fine?

Nested IF statements

Thank you so much for replying, really appreciate it. I have not used the nested IF statements, as I am a basic user, but I will google them and see if I can make sense of them. If anyone has helpful tips on how to apply them to my problem, i'd welcome your input. :-)
