Excel/Outlook 2003 freezes up after recent Windows/Office Updates – Help?

by winger39 . Updated 15 years, 1 month ago

I applied MS Windows and Office updates recently to bring my workstation up to current config. Since then, Excel and Outlook freeze the machine within five minutes of opening either one. Everything is frozen – mouse, keyboard, etc. No CNTL-ALT-DEL – a complete freeze. I seem to be able to use Word with no problem.

This is a machine I really hate to rebuild, as it has months of tweaking and config for database work invested. I need to try and save it if at all possible. No, I can’t upgrade to Office 2007 for compatibility reasons.

I removed all the updates. Still freezes. I have removed Office twice now, regcleaned, defraged, reinstalled Office from scratch, but still no joy. Can’t use Excel or Outlook. Any ideas would be appreciated.
