Just subtract and divide by 365.25

      by bschaettle ·

      In reply to excel problem

If you place those two dates into cells (say, A1 and B1) and then subtract
      =B1-A1
the result will be the difference in days.
To get years, divide by 365.25
      =(B1-A1)/365.25
Don’t forget to format the result as a number instead of a date.

      Excel has a YEAR function

      by nodisalsi ·

      In reply to excel problem

Assuming CELL1 and CELL2 are formatted as Date
      = YEAR(CELL2) – YEAR(CELL1)
Make sure this cell is formatted as Number with 0 decimal places.

I trust this solves your problem. 🙂

        Using YEAR gives erroneous result

        by bschaettle ·

In reply to Excel has a YEAR function

Using the YEAR function will give erroneous results. If the two dates are for example,

        December 5, 2003 and
        January 5, 2005

Using the YEAR function will give an answer of 2.0 when the dates are actually only 13 months apart.
