I have a WinXP machine with SP1 on it that is having problems. It is not connected to the internet and hasn’t been updated for a long time. About a month ago when my user was in Excel and went to Save As and clicked the dropdown menu to select the destination, it would sit and think for 45 seconds or more. On the same Save As screen, along the left side are buttons for Desktop, History etc. When you click on either desktop or My Network Places, things would work fine. But as soon as you click on History or My Documents it would give me this error message. “An unexpected error has occured: Not enough memory is available to complete the request.” I have 1GB of RAM, so I wouldn’t think that would be the problem.
This is what has been done:
1. Tried the repair feature of Office
2. Uninstalled/reinstalled Office
3. Replaced RAM to check for problems.
4. Banged my head on desk.
Any ideas? I believe it is running Office XP.
