Excel spreadsheet doesn’t sort correctly

I have a spreadsheet, originally imported from Lotus. I’ve added many rows since the original import. It’s an Excel97 sheet now but when I try to sort the whole table it doesn’t combine all the rows. It seems to sort in two groups – the old Lotus rows and then whatever I’ve added. How do I fix this?
