Excel spreadsheet doesn't sort correctly

By nkling ·
I have a spreadsheet, originally imported from Lotus. I've added many rows since the original import. It's an Excel97 sheet now but when I try to sort the whole table it doesn't combine all the rows. It seems to sort in two groups - the old Lotus rows and then whatever I've added. How do I fix this?

Check to make sure all of your entries are the same format.
It sounds like the old Lotus rows might have numbers formated as text.
Enter the number 1 in an empty cell and copy it. Select the Lotus entries and got to Edit>Paste Special. Choose multiply. This will, in most cases, convert the entries to numbers.
