Excel to Project Management Interface

By virdi.m ·
I would like to be able to extract figures from an Excel spreadsheet and have these pulled into the Actual Work fields against respective tasks within MS Project. Is there a tool out there that will allow me to do this? Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

- Choose Tools, Options... and activate the View tab. Uncheck the figures boxes that you want to extract and click OK.
- To add tools, choose your desired tool from Customize Toolbars dialog box: Right-click on any toolbar, click Customize and activate the Toolbars tab. Check the desired toolbar box and close Customize.
- You can also add commands; Activate the Commands tab, select the desired category and click on Rearrange Commands? button. Check the menu or the toolbar box and select from the arrow drop down list, choose a Control and click on Add? button then close Rearrange Commands and close Customize.
- Or, Choose Tools from the Menu bar, select Add-Ins? and check the desired Add-Ins available box and click Ok.

I Don't have the ANSWER, but I have a picture that will help someone get you an answer: Microsoft Access and Accel both have this operation in them as an inherient part of the program and it is almost exactly as you stated you want it. that may help some.

This can be easily done directly Have the current schedule open. Go to the File open menu change the file type to *.xls. Choose new map
and check the tasks. Select the task mapping tabs select the relevant worksheet. You must ensure that a field in the worksheet has a common key for MSP to merge and link the actual effort to the work field. On the method to incorporate choose merge by key and then press OK. This will replace the actual effort in the MSP schedule with the valu in XL.
