Excel XP hangs

Lately and with more frequency Excel XP hangs for about 30 to 45 seconds before closing once I ask it to save and close a worksheet. Has anyone else experienced this? I am running a Dell Dimension 8200, Windows XP Pro, 512MB Ram, P4 2GHz processor.Any feedback would be welcomed.
