Excel.exe error?

by shyam . Updated 25 years ago

I am the systems admin at Kotak Mahindra Capital Co., Mumbai, India I am facing a very peculiar problem with word & excel which I am not able to solve.
All the clients are windows 2000 professional and use Office 2000 as their Office Automation Software. Whenever they are opening a Excel spread sheet or a Word Document, after working for sometime an error ( snapshot of that error is being sent to you as an attachment) pops up on the screen and closes the file without saving it. All the work done is lost if the user forgets to save it regularly.
This problem is only persisting on the client with Windows 2000 Professional but not with win 95.
Please look into the matter and send me a solution to this.

Error message is as follows :
Excel.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
You need to restart the system.
An error log is being created.

After this there is no option but to restart the system”

This has already been escalated to “MICROSOFT”. but we have not gor any solution for this yet.

We are using Intel PIII 800 MHz, 128 MB SDRAM, 20 GB HDD with licensed software & MCAfee anti virus software alongwith Windows 2000 & MS Office 2000.
